June Newsletter (Click to Read)

June 2010

I am having a very difficult time accepting that summer has started. When I look up and fail to see blue skies I must wonder what manner of trick is being played upon us by Mother Nature. Is her sense of humor really that dark or are we going to have a delayed summer that lasts deep into autumn? As June marches forward the skies begin to finally clear and that bright, warm orb in the sky shows itself in all its glory. Garage doors open carefully and car buffs and bikers peer out wantonly searching for a double cross. Could it be for real? True rain free warm sunny days finally. Out come the dusters, Armor All, wash buckets and chamois. It’s time to motoring folks and work out those winter kinks and stretch those accelerator tendons and foot muscles.

With disasters in the gulf, war in the Middle East, the usual strife in our nation’s capitol, and the cost of fuel still painful, we are in bliss. The open road calls to us like a primordial beacon drawing us to travel. My Harley got to see some pavement outside of my garage and while my lovely wife and rode we passed all kinds of rods, bikes, customs, and antiques. Arizona has the Grand Canyon, California has the Sierra Nevada’s, and Utah has Bryce Canyon, but we have the Gorge, beaches, mountains, and the most beautiful back roads on earth. So instead of spending time on the internet, get out there and fire up those engines and start enjoying them. Be safe, be courteous, be aware, and most of all have a blast!

April Newsletter (click to read newsletter)

April, 2010

Now don’t start. I know this is very late but we wanted to include the 2010 Portland Roadster Show (April 16-18). We took our 47 Oldsmobile in a very unfinished sheet metal state to demonstrate what we do with metal. It was a huge hit with show participants and spectators. All of us were hourse by the end of the day from talking about it. The show itself was very nice and I must extend a heartfelt thanks to Duane Caseday (Show Chairman), Mike Conn (Multnomah Hot Rod Council President) and their staff for doing such an excellent job of coordinating and supervising the event. Everything went smooth as can be and those brave souls worked extremely hard to make sure it did. Next year the show will be moving to the EXPO Center. This should make parking easier for vendors, allow for more display space, and generally improve the show even more than this year.

March Newsletter (click to read newsletter)

March, 2010

The season is almost upon us! Are you ready; is your car ready, have you saved those sick days to play hooky? We are seeing a steady spike in business for folks trying to make those final repairs or changes. The first of the seasons shows have already occurred and the turn outs were very strong we are told. So start digging out those folding chairs and dusting off those coolers and sunbrellas.

This summer we are planning on introducing our own line of fiberglass 32 roadster bodies. These will be available as a body only on up to a powered rolling chassis. We felt there was an opportunity to offer a high quality kit body at an affordable price to encourage those new builders to enter into the hot rod hobby. Stay tuned to our website for updates and developments.

We just added a “classified” section to our website to allow our readers and customers to post items for sale or wanted free of charge. Vancouver Hotrods can’t compete with Craiglist, but we just started. Our site does receive heavy traffic and we can assume the vast majority of those readers are folks into the hot rod and custom scene. Take a look around and post those items that you have been meaning to get rid of. Your wife will thank you too!
